After this, the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision: “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your very great reward.”

"Where there is no vision, the people perish" Proverbs 29:18a (KJV)
The primary purpose of our corporate and personal fast over these 21 days is to call on God to give us vision for the future: vision for First Assembly and vision for our personal lives. As stated this past Sunday, "God-given vision builds the road of purpose that leads us into a future of blessing." Vision is that compelling picture of the future that helps us know how to move ahead.
Maybe today you're looking to God for some answer to a personal dilemma, or maybe you've been looking for clarity on a decision in your life. Beyond those kinds of concerns, I would like to ask you today to pray that God will give all of us, but particularly the leadership of the church (the pastors and the board) an increasingly clear, dynamic picture of where we need to go together this year and beyond.
Vision is something God's Spirit provides throughout the scriptures. May the Holy Spirit birth a life-giving and life-transforming vision in your heart and in our church as we move ahead in this period of seeking him.
