The Bible may just be the most-owned and least read book in history! A Gallup survey reports the average American household has four Bibles. However, research by PewForum on Religion and Public Life (2008) found that only 16% of Americans read the Bible every day.
One thing we're doing to go deeper into The Bible in 2013 at First Assembly is to pursue an understanding of it through The Story, a Zondervan best-seller. It is the right tool to increase Biblical literacy, as it helps readers understand God’s story from Genesis to Revelation and how their own stories intersect with God’s. Consisting of 31 chapters of carefully-selected scriptures sequenced in chronological order, The Story presents the word of God in an engaging format, reading like a novel.
We'll be starting it just two Sundays after Easter, and it will take us through July! 16 weeks on Sunday morning, as well as numerous Story Studies that will happen in many of our Life Groups! Plan to be a part of this focus on getting acquainted or reacquainted with God's letter to us! If you are interested in leading a Life Group that uses The Story as its basis, please write Pastor Todd Hair by clicking here.
The Story will continue to be for sale in the lobby here on Sunday mornings for $10, as well as a couple of other versions of The Story for children and students.
Join me in a walk through The Bible like you've never had before!
