Community Center Call to Compassion at Claystone

First Assembly has always been such a great supporter of Food Finders' food bank, and I know has a keen interest in Claystone at the Crossing, so I wanted to share a unique (and easy!) volunteer need that there this summer with Food Finders!

As you may know, one of Food Finders' cornerstone programs is to provide free lunches during the summer through their Summer Food Service Program. Food Finders expects to serve 26,000 meals this summer across 25 sites in 6 counties. One of the main sites they focus on is Claystone at the Crossing located just off of SR 25 and US 231 on Lafayette’s south side. They are experiencing record numbers of children who want to take part in the free lunch program over there.  They staff the site with 4 Purdue interns who administer the program and work to provide a daily activity based around nutrition education. That said, with more than 50 children showing up for lunch, most elementary age or younger, they are asking First Assembly Community Center for more hands on deck to simply be with the children so that the interns can administer the program. So, in a way, it’s a very easy way to volunteer and work with needy children. The children are starved for attention. We provide a free lunch daily, M-F, from 1 pm – 2 pm. Volunteers could sign up for as many days as they would like to via this link
Additional details, address, etc.  are provided with that link.
Food Finders needs our help.

First Assembly will volunteer on Wednesday and Thursday each week from 12:45 to 2pm.

1. Contact Pastor Wayne Peercy if you are interested by writing this email address.
