How can you know and fulfill your God-given purpose? That's the big question of this powerful series on the life of Joseph that we completed this past Sunday.
See the outline and check out the video as posted below! I've greatly appreciated this series and what it's done in the lives of those who have taken it in!
The Journey Through--Purpose
Genesis 45:3-8 “Then Joseph said to his
brothers, ‘I am Joseph;
does my father still live?’ But his brothers could not answer him, for they
were dismayed in his presence.4 And
Joseph said to his brothers, ‘Please come near to me.’ So they came near. Then
he said: ‘I am Joseph
your brother, whom you sold into Egypt. 5 But now,
do not therefore be grieved or angry with yourselves because you sold me here;
for God sent me before you to preserve life. 6 For
these two years the famine has been in the land, and there are still five years in which there will be neither
plowing nor harvesting. 7 And God sent me before
you to preserve a posterity for you in the earth, and to save your lives by a
great deliverance.8 So now it was not you who sent me here, but God; and He has made me
a father to Pharaoh, and lord of all his house, and a ruler throughout all the
land of Egypt.’”
Big Question: How can
we know and fulfill God’s purpose for our lives?
1.
Believe God has a purpose for you.
Ecclesiastes 3:1 “To everything there is a season, a time for
every purpose under heaven…”
2.
Remember that God is in control.
Genesis 45:5 “But now, do not therefore be grieved or angry with yourselves
because you sold me here; for God sent me before you to preserve life.”
Genesis 45:7
“And God sent me before you to preserve a
posterity for you in the earth, and to save your lives by a great deliverance.”
Genesis 45:8
“So now it was not you who sent me here, but God; and He has made
me a father to Pharaoh, and lord of all his house, and a ruler throughout all
the land of Egypt.”
Romans 8:28 “And
we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those
who are the called according to His purpose.”
Isaiah 55:10-11
“For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven,
and do not return there, but water the earth, and make it bring forth and bud,
that it may give seed to the
sower and bread
to the eater, 11 So shall
My word be that goes forth from My mouth it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the
thing for
which I sent it.”
3.
Discover your gifts and direction.
Romans 12:4-8 “For as we have many members in one body, but all the members
do not have the same function, 5 so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and
individually members of one another. 6 Having
then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use
them: if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith; 7 or
ministry, let us use it in our ministering; he who teaches, in teaching; 8 he who
exhorts, in exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with
diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness.”
