Dear Fellow Minister,
Greetings in the Lord!
Undoubtedly, you are aware of the widespread refugee crisis across Europe. AGWM missionaries, national churches, andConvoy of Hope are already working in seven countries in relief efforts to help the suffering, including Macedonia, Austria, Greece, Italy, Belgium and Germany, and this will likely expand.
The scale of need defies imagination. European nations were already reporting a refugee crisis when 280,000 people crossed their borders in 2014. During the first eight months of this year that number has been eclipsed, with another 350,000 people desperately seeking asylum. Their homelands in Africa, the Middle East and as far away as Afghanistan are rocked by war and violence against civilians.
By some estimates, this is the worst refugee crisis since World War II. This may become the largest relief response in our history as a Fellowship.
With God's help, and with compassionate participation from across our Fellowship, I believe this can also become one of our greatest opportunities to share the love of Christ and the hope of the gospel.
I hope you will catch the vision for this rapidly growing missions opportunity. Would you consider giving your congregation the opportunity to give an offering to help the joint relief efforts of AG World Missions and Convoy of Hope?
Also, please join with me in praying that God will give protection, wisdom and strength to every missionary, national pastor, layperson and Convoy team member on the ground.
May the Lord bless you richly!
For Christ and His Kingdom,
Dr. George O. Wood General Superintendent The General Council of the Assemblies of God |
