Here is the last of four messages on the theme "Seasons". We explored how spiritual growth and transformation is usually connect to a certain pattern that mirrors the agricultural process.
Check out the outline and the message from Sunday, May 22!
SEASONS—Harvest
1 Corinthians 3:6 “I planted,
Apollos watered, but God gave the increase.”
Mark 4:8 “But
other seed fell on
good ground and yielded a crop that sprang up, increased and produced: some
thirtyfold, some sixty, and some a hundred.”
BIG IDEA: God is the one who will make the seeds sown
grow into harvest.
GOD OF MULTIPLICATION
God made a seed bearing creation.
Genesis 1:11-12 “Then God said, ‘Let the earth bring forth grass,
the herb that yields
seed, and the fruit
tree that yields fruit
according to its kind, whose seed is in
itself, on the earth’; and it was so. 12 And the earth brought forth grass, the herb that yields seed according to
its kind, and the tree that yields
fruit, whose seed is in
itself according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.”
Genesis 1:26-28 “
Then God
said, ‘Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have
dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the
cattle, over all[a] the
earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.’ 27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and
female He created them. 28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, ‘Be
fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the
fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that
moves on the earth.’”
2 Timothy 2:1-2 “You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace
that is in Christ Jesus. 2 And the things that you have heard from me among
many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others
also.”
The kingdom of God is birthed relationally and
generationally.
GOD OF PROCESS
Obedience, praise and prayer are the process that come
before harvest.
James 5:17-18 “ Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed
earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three
years and six months. 18 And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain,
and the earth produced its fruit.”
GOD OF MIRACLES
God is the one who transforms seeds into something more.
Psalm 126:5-6 “Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy.
6 Those who go out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with them.”
Job
5:9 “He performs wonders that cannot be fathomed, miracles that cannot be counted.”
BOTTOM LINE:
What
seeds do you need to plant and how can you trust God to make them grow?
